Paul Rider

Paul Rider's (Philadelphia, PA) photos depict the complexity of Philadelphia and its inhabitants. Some photos show the city's European roots with it's small alleyways and classical architecture. Others depict the industrial, blue color history with workers returning from work or reveling after a night out. His work displays an intimate understanding of his surroundings and a knowledge of Philadelphia's colorful past and present.

Rider received his BFA in photography from University of the Arts, Philadelphia and his MFA in photography from Savannah College of Art, Savannah, GA. Both an artist and educator, Rider has taught photography classes and workshops at Tyler School of Art, Philadelphia, PA; Marywood University, Scranton, PA; Delaware College of Art and Design, Wilmington, DE and Bucks County Community College, Newtown, PA. He has exhibited his work both locally and nationally at venues including Pittsburgh Filmmakers, Hudson Valley Institute of Art, Peekskill, NY and The Print Center, Philadelphia, PA.
