Julia Blaukopf

Julia Blaukopf (Philadelphia, PA) creates social art and focuses on visual storytelling through photographs, mixed media works, jewelry and large-scale fabric installations.  Blurring the lines between fine art and documentary, her focus is on emblems that compose the everyday. She has photographed for a women’s empowerment organization in Ghana, a reforestation project in Kenya, and collaborated with artists and organizations in Lithuania, Denmark and the United States.

Blaukopf received a BFA in photography from University of the Arts,Philadelphia and has studied painting, textile arts and photography in Boston and Italy.  Her photographs have been shown internationally in Munich and Copenhagen, as well as nationally, in Portland, OR; Baltimore, MD; New York, NY and Philadelphia.
