Ivanco Talevski

Ivanco Talevski (Macedonia) combines strong technical skill with an astute and unique visual language to create incredible intaglio prints. Working primarily in black and white, the intense blacks, soft grays and stark whites are entwined with a varied yet deliberate line quality to form an image rich in depth and narrative. Beyond the first look, this work reveals a story that seems oddly familiar yet completely foreign.

Talevski began his education at the Macedonian Traditional Icon Painting Guild, and the School of Art and Design of Macedonia. He later received his BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art, Baltimore, MD and his MFA from the School of Design at the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia. He has also studied at Interlochen Arts Academy, Interlochen, MI and the School of Art Centers International in Florence Italy. Solo exhibitions include Eckhaus Gallery, Kutztown, PA; John Fonda Gallery, Baltimore, MD, USA; MC Gallery, New York City, NY and Galerija Bezisten, Bitola, R., Macedonia. He has also shown in group shows across the USA and Europe. Talevski is the recipient of a Pollock & Krasner Grant. He is currently a professor in the School of Design at the University of Pennsylvania and Tyler School of Art, Temple University.
