Andrea Cote
Andrea Cote (Flanders, NY) is a multidisciplinary artist working in a variety of media including prints, books and performance art. Her work explores ideas of vulnerability through use of the body. “For years I worked as an artists’ model, a fully exposed yet anonymous presence. Through related performances, installations, and prints I inhabit the boundary between visibility and invisibility, motion and stillness, immersion and isolation." Cote uses her body as artist, model and medium by printing with hair, and castings made from her body.
Cote received her BFA from Florida International University, Miami and MFA from the State University of New York, Purchase, NY. She has exhibited her work internationally at venues including The Philadelphia Museum of Art, Philadelphia, NY; Islip Art Museum, Islip, NY; Delaware Art Museum, Wilmington, DE; The Galleries at Moore College of Art & Design, Philadelphia, PA; The Print Center and through Pan American Art Projects. Her performances have been presented at The Neuberger Museum, Purchase, NY; The Philadelphia Fringe Festival and Photo Buenos Aires.
