Kristen Martincic
Kristen Martincic (Columbia, MO) grew up swimming in the Great Lakes and public pools near her childhood home in the Cleveland area. Her recent artwork explores her love of water & fascination for pool environments. She uses swimming pools & objects associated with water to meditate on water’s translucency & the act of swimming. She works with traditional print media as well as a hybrid of print, drawing and painting to explore these themes.
Martincic earned a BFA from Bowling Green State University and an MFA from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. The Print Center first discovered her when she exhibited in our 77th Annual International Competition: Printmaking in 2003 and immediately began representing her work in the Gallery Store. Her artwork has been widely shown in solo and group exhibitions. Venues include Editions/Artists’ Book Fair in New York City; International Print Center New York; American University in Egypt & Indiana University Art Museum. Her work is in several public collections, including the Sheldon Museum of Art, Brodsky Center for Innovative Editions, Fidelity Investments, and the Hawaii State Foundation on Culture and the Arts. She has been a resident artist at Jentel, Brush Creek Foundation, Prairie Center of the Arts, Watershed Center for the Ceramic Arts, and KHN Center for the Arts.
