Jeannie Pearce

Jeannie Pearce (Philadelphia, PA) is an observational photographer who has long been on the forefront of combining traditional photographic and new digital techniques. In 1991 she created the first digital imaging class required for photo majors at the University of the Arts. Her work often references digital editing techniques even before those techniques were popular. In this body of work, entitled Bird Digiscopes, photos are shot through a telescopic lens which both distorts and clarifies the subject. They rely on a perfect mix of skill and chance.

Pearce received her MFA from the University of Delaware. She is a recipient of a Pennsylvania Council on the Arts Fellowship. She has had many solo and group exhibitions and is in collections including the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Los Angeles Center for Photographic Studies, Hewlett Packard, The State Museum of Pennsylvania, Bryn Mawr College and Westinghouse Electric Corporation.
