Angela Earley

Angela Earley (Brooklyn, NY) uses a very personal style of mark making to translate personal experience into image. Her drawings, etchings and relief prints recall memories and experiences she faces on a day to day basis. “In challenging myself to slow down in a fast-paced urban atmosphere, I am empowered to strengthen the tangible and visualize the invisible. My art is a reflection of the narratives, mysteries and behaviors that are ever-present in our society. I attempt to heighten my own and others' observational awareness with my art.” In addition to her prints, Earley is working on an ongoing series of artists book called Six Word Stories. These beautifully illustrated, hand-printed books present big ideas with an extreme frugality of text.

Earley received her BFA from Syracuse University, Syracuse, NY and her MFA from Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, NY. She has exhibited widely including shows at The Everson Museum of Art, Syracuse, NY; 23 Sandy Gallery, Portland, OR and NURTUREart, Brooklyn, NY. She is in the collection of the Free Library of Philadelphia, Philadelphia, PA; NY Arts Beijing Gallery, Beijing, China; The Museum in the Castle of Castiglione, Abruzzo, Italy; Women & Their Work, Austin, TX and University of Wisconsin-Parkside, Kenosha, WI.
