Rosalyn Richards

Rosalyn Richards (Lewisburg, PA) makes paintings, prints, and drawings inspired by the ways recent developments in technology have given us new means to see the natural world. She is influenced by scientific sources such as seismology, micro-tectonics, oceanography and theoretical physics. Her work contrasts imagery generated by modern digital machinery with the sensual and tactile process of drawing, hand pulled prints and the immediacy of the handmade object.

Richards received her BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design, Providence and her MFA from Yale University, New Haven. She has won several awards including a Pennsylvania Council on the Arts Fellowship, The Lindquist Purchase Award at the Delta Small Prints Exhibition and the Rosenhouse Award at the Society of American Graphic Artists Members Exhibition. Her work is found in the collections of many museums and corporations and has been exhibited in shows throughout the US including the 4th Minnesota National Print Biennial; Artemisia Gallery, Chicago and Anita Shapolsky Gallery, New York. Richards had a solo show at The Print Center in 1996.
