Joan Wadleigh Curran
Joan Wadleigh Curran (Philadelphia, PA) is interested in objects that exist on the periphery of our daily experience and are often overlooked. Curran is drawn to the cropped, pruned, twisted forms of plant and manmade metal objects which she stages in provocative contexts. Her prints transform this ragged, urban detritus into beautiful, spare and stunning images.
Wadleigh Curran received her BS in Art from Skidmore College, Saratoga Springs, NY and her MFA from Yale University, New Haven, CT. She has had numerous solo exhibitions including the National Academy of Sciences, Washington, DC in 2008. She currently teaches painting at the University of Pennsylvania.
