Gerald Cyrus
Gerald Cyrus (b. 1957, Los Angeles, CA; l. Philadelphia, PA) has an MFA from the School of Visual Arts, New York, NY. His work is held in the collection of the Wadsworth Athenaeum, Hartford, CT; New Orleans Museum of Art, LA; Museum of the City of New York, NY; and Philadelphia Museum of Art. He has been an artist-in-residence at Light Work, Syracuse, NY and the Sacatar Foundation, Bahia, Brazil. He has also been awarded a New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowship and a Pew Fellowship for the Arts. His publications include Stormy Monday: New York’s Uptown Jazz Scene (2008), Portrait of Camden in Photographs, 2001–2008 (2013) and Harlem Nights 1990-2001 (2022). He is a member of the historic Kamoinge Workshop and teaches at Haverford College.
