Suzanne Benton
Suzanne Benton's (Ridgefield, CT) style of printmaking began evolving in 1983 while she worked as a resident artist in Köln, Germany. She makes monoprints inspired by her travels throughout the world, influenced by a wide variety of sources including Near Eastern miniature and manuscript painting, South Asian folk art, Korean folklore and Greek mythology.
Benton received a BA from Queens College and was a Fulbright scholar in India. She is the recipient of many grants and artist residencies including a Thanks to be Grandmother Winifred Grantee (East Africa) and the USIA/USIS. She is a guest artist at Eckerd College, St. Petersburg, FL. Many articles by Benton have been published and she is the author of "The Art of Welded Sculpture" (Van Nostrand Reinhold, 1975).
